Castles? Keeps? Forts? Houses? Player-run towns? In GW2?!?
... as a possible money sink? The system is already in place (Hall of Monuments) for personal residences.
We've already got guildhalls and customize them with NPCs by purchasing them, why not expand it a bit by being able to buy fortifications, additional NPC soldiers, archers, etc. This would make GvG another level of unpredictability.
There is also an existing system when it comes to guilds/players owning a town (Factions). Why not remove all NPCs (All NPCs die when a town gets taken over) and have the guild that owns it the ability to add NPCs/decoration/fortification they want?
Thoughts? (Yeah, im bored)

No...people in Tyria (the world) do not live in buildings. They stand around outside. Theres no houses. Theres no toilets. Hell, theres even very few chairs. People from Tyria do not believe in comfort and hygiene, they believe that luxuries like that make you weak.

Terraban, do you really think that 1) we see everyone who lives in Tyria as an NPC, and 2) that those house-like structures that tend to be behind them aren't...houses?
To this:

Hell...no. Maybe for some kind of funky FA-like PvP, but for what amounts to GvG, it better not be based on who has the most money to dump into their hall.

I like your proposal, cousin.
For your city proposal though the move of the fontier should be slower, but will give a front town impression. Actually, the AvA system is so bad that the fontier goes from one extrem to the other so no one will invest in town.
But it should go the good way.

wth lol that's not logical.
so say this system is in place, lets have the richest person in the game completely fortify his guild hall so that the enemy in gvg cannot even get pas the archers. wtf?
you are just making the people with the most money the best pvpers in the game which is completely stupid. PvP should stand alone, and pve should be for the people that are only interested in gaining a profit.

If we get houses in GW2 then there had better be a Boss or two that drops soft furnishings and a 50” Plasma TV!

I think it'd be cool. Owning your own house.
But then again, think about it: There'd have to be a damn lot of houses.

I would love there to be houses in GW2. Mainly cause it (i hope) would be a huge storage dump. And if you run out of room, you buy a bigger house!

Houses yeah. Money making you better in PvP? No.
I wouldn't mind a housing instance system like LOTRO has. Reduces lag and stuff that way. Could show off items and what not too if Anet implements it like they have the HoM, but I doubt they will.

IMO PvP shouldn't be affected by money changes. However, a customizable area working like the HoM would be really nice.

More features and options for Guild Halls definately. Basically is home for me at least. I do not think that the ability to upgrade the defenses of GH during GVG would be a good idea. Means the Guild with those most money wins basically. Can throw playing with skill out the window.
PvP with fortifications and npc archers/other classes and such will be most likely for PvP in the Mists.

As for housing, that would be cool to have ^^ can turn it into a small HOM with storage etc.
I have a house on LOTRO its quite cool :-)
As for putting the houses somewhere thats easy, you have homesteads and multiple areas (districts would be better to say) so they are out the way, but not unreachable...also in LOTRO you get a skill called "travel to house" so it maps you to your own house. Would be cool to have something like that in gw2 ^^

Um...no?
Houses turn into you your character having to spend a certain amount of time at home "resting," recovering from battle. If you're not at home you can still rest, but at a much slower rate.
Sound familiar?
AB on a larger scale would be cool, not as hardcore as raiding or anything. Just a larger scale.
And why is it that people want a place for their chars to live so badly? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for extra storage, but if I want what you guys are talking about, I'll go play The Sims.
Or maybe I can just see the line between reality and fantasy more clearly than some.

Why not have a specific set of NPC slots, you can choose which NPC's you want to use. How to decorate you're hall etc.
Seems aite as an idea

What? Who said it would have to end up like that? Houses can be a cosmetic item to help with role-playing and immersion, also storage and what not and if Anet can put up a trophy room in there that'd be cool too. Just a money sink like titles are now.
I swear people are so boring now n days.
